Youth takes the stage at Legioleum Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 457

An advancement to remember at Castleford Masonic Hall on Wednesday, 25th November 2021, an Emergency Meeting for which the Dispensation was read. The candidate was Brother Aidan Wells, hailing from Chantry Lodge no. 4065 and aged thirty three. The attendance was affected the pandemic but it was good to see a number of Mark Masons that I had not seen for two years or so; in many ways it seemed like only yesterday. Unfortunately a number of Officers were missing but in time honoured Masonic fashion, visitors filled the gaps and away we went.

The Lodge was opened in fine form the Worshipful Master W.Bro. Paul Brunner and his Wardens, Senior  Warden, W.Bro. Martyn Hughes and Junior Warden, W.Bro. Barrie Fothergill, a visitor. The stage set, Bro. Aidan entered under the guidance of the Acting Senior Deacon, W.Bro. Tony Williams, the Lodge Secretary, who performed admirably throughout. Bro. Aidan was duly obligated and a word for the Overseers who equally despatched their responsibilities with style. The Signs and Secrets were then provided W.Bro. Tony, the Tools W.Bro.Harry Stogdale,  the explanation of the jewel W Bro Paul Levey and the Conclusion W.Bro. Martyn Hughes.

Other business included the distribution of the new Mark Token to the Brethren of the Lodge and a Report upon the activities of the Leeds and District Installed Masters Association which was given, because he was present, the current President, Worshipful Brother David Lees, a delight to see him there Events are planned, pandemic permitting, watch this space.

Business completed, the Festive Board beckoned. and was it not worth the wait, Sea Bass to start, Roast Chicken and trifle or Xmas Pudding to finish. The formal Toasts were dutifully presented and the Toast to the Candidate was in the hands of W.Bro. Tony as neither Aidan’s Proposer or Seconder could be present. He was welcomed warmly  to the Lodge particularly as he had ben waiting nearly two years.  In response, Bro. Aidan confirmed that he had thoroughly enjoyed his  advancement and noted the relaxed atmosphere within the Lodge, as we know that is the ‘Magic of the Mark’ which we trust he will enjoy for many years to come. A most enjoyable  evening of Mark Masonry, I look forward to the next

Smile, be happy, you are Mark Master Masons
