A great welcome was given to all the visitors at the Proclamation of W. Brother James Henry Newman. The visitors came from not only the Province of West Yorkshire but also from the Provinces of Derbyshire and Yorkshire North and East.
Due to a number of special circumstances, this was to be W.Bro. James’s fourth year in the chair.
Before the Lodge opened and, unusually the Worshipful Commander offered the gavel to The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, James Steggles, member of the G.M.R.A.C. Perhaps W.Bro. James was hoping for a different end to the evening! Right W.Bro. Jim quickly declined, wishing him every success in the coming year.
The Director of Ceremonies W.Bro. Michael Minns did a first-class job in Proclaiming W.Bro. James and the investiture of the Officers and other business of the Lodge were swiftly concluded.
The Festive board was fabulous and the dining first class, as was the Lodge room upstairs. Well worth a visit Brethren.
At the festive board congratulations were given by the Provincial Grand Master to W.Bro. James of his appointment as Provincial Grand Master and Grand Superintendent in and over the Royal Arch in The Province of Yorkshire, West Riding.
Both Right W.Bro. Jim and W.Bro. James spoke of the Orders working closely together and the importance of this to all Masons.
A fabulous evening with a good number of Brethren perhaps enjoying their first outing since the New Year. Or as one Brother put it escaping the rubbish that was on the telly!
