We now have less than four weeks to the MBF Charity Walk which promises to be a remarkable event for Mark Masonry in the UK. No less than thirty-five Provinces have declared that they will be taking part and have Giving Portals on the dedicated website. The total for the event stands at more than £213,000 at the time of writing with over £32,000 from our own Province of West Yorkshire.
If you haven’t already taken the opportunity to support the PGM and his team, please do so at your next meeting where one of the Walkers is in attendance, or visit the online giving page linked below.
The MBF Mark Charity Walk follows the route of the “Princess of Wales Memorial Walk” covering seven miles through four of the Royal Parks of London. The MBF hopes to raise over £100,000 through the event, which will be applied to enhance the excellent work they already do.
On announcing that the Province would be fielding a team, the PGM said “this walk is a great opportunity for our Province to work hand in hand with the MBF. Coming as it does, early in our Festival period, it offers us a timely springboard for our Festival efforts.”
The West Yorkshire walking team consists of the PGM himself, our DPGM Richard Puttrell, John Vause, Bob Corfield, representing the South of the Province, Paul Clarke, representing our strong links with the Craft and Chris Oldfield who will be promoting the event online and encouraging Brethren to support the PGM and the Province.
Although a traditional sponsorship form will be made available the Walking Team, support is mainly expected to be through the online giving portal. All donations can count towards the Province’s Festival efforts and personal MBF honorifics (collaret achievement) and attract gift aid where appropriate. These choices should be made on the Giving page, making sure you select ‘WEST YORKSHIRE’ from the Festival Allocation menu.
The Provincial Grand Master expressed his hope that Brethren would support the event through individual giving rather than holding Lodge events and pointed out that this is just one of many ways to support the Festival and Brethren should feel free to choose which ones suit them best.
Concluding his announcement, the PGM said “I hope the Brethren of our Province will embrace this opportunity and continue to prove that West Yorkshire Mark Masons are amongst the most generous in our Order.”
