The team of Widows Sons Masonic Bikers have completed their marathon Bike Ride from Portsmouth to John O‘Groats and return, a total of 1732 miles in 4 days having started on the 19th August, including one of our own Brethren; W.Bro. Frank .
On Friday morning, they tarried a short while near Leeds and presented a cheque for £500 to the Asst. Prov. Grand Master, W.Bro.Trevor Bolton, who thanked them for their generosity. Also present was W.Bro. Andrew Brown, armed with a quality camera which he used to good effect, taking a video of them as they departed. This is attached for your perusal. Just as a reminder, W.Bro. Frank will be eighty in September and completed forty years as a Mark Master Mason in February 2021. Throughout he has been an athlete, risk taker and entrepreneur, suffering physically on occasion, he has a steel plate in his skull and has been diagnosed twice with cancer.
The Bike Ride is the key Fund raising event for the Festival this year, so it was with some surprise on checking that I found that the total donations to date of £2638 was from only 61 of the 1100 Mark Masons in the Province. Charity is the heart of Mark Masonry brethren, so come on, let’s support Frank and the Festival adding significantly to that number over the next few weeks.
