Huddersfield, Halifax & Districts Installed Masters – Sunday Lunch

At the Invitation of the President, Worshipful Brother Richard Brooke, the Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. James Steggles and his lady, Mrs. Joan Steggles, Mark Master Masons and their wives, partners, families and friends, some 70 in total, attended an informal Lunch on Sunday, the 13th of March at Greenhead Masonic Hall, Huddersfield.

This marked the 49th year of the Association and the Secretary, W.Bro. Graham Pearce acted as Director of Ceremonies. The Chef, Nic Reed, provided a choice of starter and sweet with traditional Roast Beef as the main course, thoroughly enjoyed all, other dietary requirements being catered for.

A stonemasons Maul used in the local quarries around Saddleworth had been donated to the Association W.Bro. Bev Heywood who was, unfortunately, indisposed and could not attend.  The President presented the Maul to the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother James Steggles who thanked him. R.W.Bro.Steggles then informed the gathering that the Maul would be transferred to each of the Installed Masters Associations on the occasion that they were responsible for the Stewardship of future Annual Provincial Grand Lodge meetings.

The Maul, has been suitably inscribed and was presented W.Bro. Brooke to W.Bro. Les Davey, President of the Leeds and District Association at the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting held at Bradford on the 26th of April.














As a delightful touch, chocolate Easter Bunnies were presented to children present including the granddaughter of the Senior Vice President, W.Bro. Clive Edwards. The President also presented flowers to Mrs. Joan Steggles and to his wife, Mrs. Christine Brooke, table decorations to other Ladies present. Including the Raffle, the event raised £290 which will form the basis of a donation to the Cleeves and Whitehead Trust.

After thanks to the Stewardess, Lisa and her staff for helping to make this an enjoyable day, the President wished all a safe journey home.
