Tuesday 3 February, and Mark Master Masons assembled in Harrogate for the Escorted visit to Haywra Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 525.The Lodge was opened in due form the Worshipful Master. Worshipful Brother Robert Boyd who competently despatched the initial formalities.
Upon a report, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Worshipful Brother Dr. Rod Taylor was admitted together with his posse of Escorting Provincial Grand Lodge Officers. The Worshipful Master offered the gavel to Worshipful Brother Dr. Rod Taylor who responded, ‘Oscar Wild said that he could resist anything other than temptation’, but on this occasion I can, and politely and courteously declined. We were to have enjoyed an Advancement but owing to a sudden family bereavement that had to be postponed. Accordingly a demonstration of the advancement ceremony was very professionally despatched W.Bro. Boyd and his team.
W.Bro. Richard Beecroft, Worshipful Master of Prince Leopold Lodge No. 352 was the candidate being navigated around the Lodge in expert fashion the Senior Deacon, Bro. Nigel Dyson The Tools were beautifully delivered a relatively new Mark Master Mason, Brother Sean McPartland who later, received his Grand Lodge Certificate from the hands of W.Bro. John Dennis P.A.G.D.C. W.Bro. William Pickles P.G.Std.B. in a consummately professional manner dealt with the Signs and Secrets. A Demonstration ceremony of which, all who took part, can be totally content. I have to comment, for the benefit of those who have not had the pleasure of seeing a Ceremony at Harrogate that the stones have to be seen to be believed. They are somewhat larger than normal, most certainly heavier and are therefore transported in slings; I say no more, go and see them. Also, I had forgotten, as it had been sometime since I had last visited Harrogate, that it is one of the most stunning Temples in the Province. If you have not been, that provides two reasons to put that right and a third is that the original candidate will be Advanced on the7 of April, see you there!!
At a most enjoyable Festive Board, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master commented that it had been, both Ceremony and Festive Board, ‘A right good do’. He had been delighted to attend along with his Escort and urged the Brethren of Hywra Lodge No. 525 and all the visitors to reciprocate and visit the Annual General Meeting of the Provincial Grand lodge of Mark Master Masons to be held at Bradford. He congratulated Bro. Sean McPartland upon receiving his Grand Lodge Certificate and trusted that the foundation he had now laid would assist him in building a fulfilling Mark Masonic career, part of which could be visiting Provincial Grand lodge, see you on 11 April.
Smile, be happy and enjoy your Mark Masonry.
