Royal Ark Mariner Masons came together at the Masonic Hall, Allerton, Leeds to witness the Installation of the Worshipful Commander, Worshipful Brother Paul Leach. This was in the very capable hands of the Installing Commander, W.Bro. Ian Tillett who had undoubtedly done his homework. From the moment he opened the Lodge to his address to the newly Installed Commander, hardly a word out of place. His work also included the presentation of the Key Stone Collaret in impressive fashion; I think that W.Bro. Ian will find himself occupied on a regular basis as the years roll at Elmete. A humorous moment was inserted when W.Bro. Paul Leach referred to the Lodge as Adel prompting some to suggest that perhaps there was an intention to move the Lodge there!, I think not.
Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Brian Emmett presented W.Bro Ian with his Past Masters Jewel in his usual sincere fashion. He was at pains to emphasise the excellent work undertaken the Installing Commander but also to stress that this was no accident, it was confirmation of the preparatory efforts that W.Bro. Ian had put in prior to the meeting; you do not see work like this without practice, a lesson to all. In his response, W.Bro Ian acknowledged that he knew that there was still much work ahead but that the ‘Wrath of Emmett’ would always be above him, join the club!!
Elmete Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No. 111, whilst being honoured that W.Bro. Brian Emmet is a Past Commander is very much enhanced having our Provincial Grand Master R.W Bro. James Steggles as a Past Commander. It was his duty to present a Grand Lodge Certificate to Bro. John Cruthcher which I have no doubt he will remember for some time.
After the Lodge was closed all adjourned to the Allerton for the Festive Board, fine fare, well received. In his response to the Toast to Provincial Royal Ark Mariner Grand Rank, W.Bro. Edward Patnick did point out that it was his duty to bring the congratulations and best wishes of the Provincial Grand Master who, ironically , was sat at his side!.It did however provide the opportnity to remind Brethren of the news received at Grand Mark Lodge that our Provincial Grand Master had been honoured an invitation to join the Grand Masters Royal Ark Council, not only a great honour for him personally but also the Province of West Yorkshire. W.Bro. Edward then emphasised that we must all work to help our Craft Lodges in these difficul times as, of course, they are our feed stock. Finally he reminded all the Annual Assembly of Royal Ark Mariners will take place in London on 10th December.
Smile, be happy and enjoy your Royal Ark Mariner and Mark Masonry
