Danum Lodge of M.M.M. No.398 Proclaim and Advance!

A warm welcome awaited all who attended a great night at Danum Lodge on Friday 8th April 2022.  The Worshipful Master Worshipful Brother Roger Powell waiting outside to ensure everyone was warmly greeted and got parked safely.

Once the Lodge was opened and various business dealt with the Provincial Grand Senior Warden Worshipful Brother Andrew Johnson and Worshipful Brother Alex Geddes Elected Representative of the Charity Committee were admitted under the expert guidance of Worshipful Bother Edward Wilkinson Assistant Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies.

A suitable welcome and greetings given things swiftly moved on and W.Bro. Roger was proclaimed as Master for the ensuing year.  Officers were then promptly appointed, and things moved on to a first-class Advancement.  W.Bro. Roger leading a fantastic team who all did a wonderful job.  Not a book in sight.  The candidate Brother Stuart Oakes cannot have failed to be impressed with the very high standard shown.  W.Bro. Roger later explained this was the ‘norm’ for Danum and was achieved with every Brother in the Lodge supporting and encouraging each other along the way.  All other business was then swiftly dealt with and the Brethren retired to a wonderful festive board which was brought forward and served early.  Credit to their Director of Ceremonies Worshipful Brother Ian Smith for keeping things running smoothly.

At the festive board W.Bro. Andrew talked about the 2023 festival, the forth coming MC2 cycle challenge, items for sale such as the Sesquicentenary jewel and the hard backed history book of the Province and, the final event of the Festival at Harrogate Conference Centre the weekend of Friday 30th June 2023 and the gala evening that same weekend Saturday 1st July 2023.  Closing saying The Provincial Grand Master Right Worshipful Brother James Steggles GMRAC was really looking forward to the annual Provincial meeting on Saturday 23rd April 2022 and appreciated the support of the Brethren at this event.

W.Bro. Alex in response to toast No.6 gave good detail as to the marvellous things that our charity achieved and the speed of which the help was given.  The merits of the Provincial Hoedown to be held Saturday 25th June 2022 at Brierley, Barnsley were mentioned and the fabulous prizes to be had purchasing Sesquicentenary raffle tickets.

The toast to the candidate Brother Stuart given W.Bro. Roger gave a potted history of his exploits looking for a farm in South America! and, his numerous hobbies.  Closing saying he was a first-class mason and would be a great asset to Danum and Mark Masonry in general.  Bro. Stuart responded saying it was a humbling experience to be advanced but was certainly glad he had joined and was looking forward to a long and enjoyable future in Mark Masonry.

A great evening which will no doubt be repeated with Brethren returning to visit and enjoy once again Danum Mark Lodge.
