Forty three of our most worthy members (Brothers and Ladies) attended the Inn On The Prom at St. Anne’s for a much, looking forward to holiday, after the most difficult 18 months of their lives. The weather was kind, the hotel, and its staff first class and the coach and the driver comfortable and obliging.

We had a good number of first timers and if someone was a bit concerned about not knowing anyone and feeling a little awkward such fears were lost after about half an hour.  This was when all participants took everyone else under their wing and adopted them for the week. We do not do loneliness or solitude on this break.

Three trips were organised, being Lake Windermere, Liverpool and Southport. All were well attended, and proved to be very popular. Two late additions to the itinerary were an evening trip to Blackpool Illuminations and a most interesting talk about his life in textiles Noel Moroney. Again, both were well attended and enjoyed all.

We were visited the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Trevor Bolton and Pam who joined us for a meal and W.Bro. Geoff Kendall, Chairman of Trustees, and Trish who did likewise on another evening. I know they took away some very positive vibes from all our holiday makers.

Towards the end of the week I was told on more than one occasion that “ I do not want to go home “. A sentiment that I think speaks for itself and leaves you in no doubt as to the success of this venture.

The atmosphere of warmth and fraternity was on show throughout the holiday. The amount of good that it does is immeasurable and for this we should all be very proud and appreciative of our Province and the Cleeves and Whitehead Trust.
