A Matter of STYLE

Wednesday, the 3rd July, Brethren gathered at Blenheim House, Batley for the Installation of Brother Derrick Townend as Worshipful Commander of the Morley Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No. 1905.

Very much a red letter day for Derick who has battled cancer for some three years but had been determined to see this ambition fulfilled.  He was installed in due and ancient form, and with great concern and understanding, the W.C. George Herd ably assisted some’ friends’ who had done it before!!.  The R.W.Prov.G.M. Jim Steggles presented him for Installation and afterwards, R.W.Bro.Philip Birch gave the address to the Commander followed R.W.Bro. Brian Batty, with the exposition, all superbly executed, an example to us all.

The Festive board was well received, the highlight  being W.C. Derick proposing the toast to the P.G.M. and emphasising that to do the job you needed style with which of course all our Rulers were endowed.  Very quickly to be reminded that ’all Past rulers had style as well’ courtesy of, you guessed it, R.W.Bro. Philip.

The next ceremony for Morley will be an additional meeting at Pontefract Masonic hall, Wednesday 2nd October at 11a.m. when an elevation will take place. For those of us not in full time employment any more and, even if you are!!, have a day off and join us, pop it in your diary now.
